What Exactly is the Chrome Squad?
What is the Chrome Squad?
The Chrome Squad is a group within the school that specializes in aiding students and teachers with all their technology needs. On top of that, the members of the Chrome Squad exercise great people skills and exceptional service. The Chrome Squad is made up of eight teams that contribute to the overall success of the C4L program: The Blog Team, Video Team, Promotions, C4L Ninjas, Classroom, Inventory, Tech Tips, and the Connect Store.
The Blog Team
The Blog Team is a team that brings you amazing and eloquent teacher, student, and how-to blogs! We provide step-by-step instructions on how to use all kinds of apps and extensions for your Chromebook. How-to blogs are not all we do, though; the blog team also writes about other topics (For example, the current blog you are reading about the Chrome Squad) Our team aims to post a new blog every week.
The Video Team
The Video team is a lot like the blog team in the sense that they create how-to videos for students and teachers; however, the blog and video teams are substantially different. The video team creates stunning videos that use visuals to explain how to use a number of unique programs. The videos the team produces are both creative and innovative!
Promotions
The Promotions team is in charge of running Twitter and Instagram for the Chrome Squad. The Promotions team posts/tweets about the latest updates within the Chrome Squad and helps spread the word about the projects that the Chrome Squad completes. The Promotions team is beginning to use more social media sites, and might possibly be using Snapchat in the future.
C4L Ninjas
The C4L Ninjas is a program that the teachers of Royse City High School were involved with last year. The C4L Ninjas was a program that consisted of challenges and goals that teachers had to complete to earn badges. (The badges were then added to the signs outside teachers’ doors) This year, the C4L Ninja team is working to make this program interactive to students as well.
Classroom
The Google Classroom for C4L is a place where students can go to ask questions that they have about Chromebooks or technology in general. The classroom is a wonderful way for the Chrome Squad to get in touch with students. Fun extensions and tips are posted frequently in the classroom’s stream.
Inventory
Inventory is a team that handles the job of organizing the Chromebook inventory. The inventory team files claims for broken Chromebooks and ships them to companies like Asus and GoCare. Most of the work that the inventory team does is behind the scenes; even though not many people know about this part of the Chrome Squad, it is essential in the function of the organization.
Tech Tips
Have you seen the red, blue, and green posters around the school? These posters are thanks to the Tech Tips crew. It is their mission to bring to you three new tech tip posters a week. The tech tips are little tidbits of information to let students and teachers know what they can do to have their experience with technology run smoothly! Tech Tips can be anything from keyboard shortcuts to tips on how to fix small problems with Chromebooks.
Connect Store
The Connect Store is a new part of the C4L program coming this year! The Connect Store will be where you can buy accessories and cases for your Chromebook. Last year, several chargers had to be replaced; students were put on a waiting list and the whole thing was such a hassle for everyone! Now, thanks to the Connect Store, if you happen to lose your charger, you can buy a brand new one!
What Exactly is the Chrome Squad?
As you can see, the Chrome Squad has many parts that make up the program. Each team is essential to the success of the Chrome Squad. All of the members of the C4L organization work together to make the school a better place for students and teachers alike. Our goal is to help the school in any way possible ( with some technology of course!)
